Futon

We have a wooden futon frame with mattress that we'd like to sell. Let me know if you're interested.

I'll post a picture of it soon.

And they're starting to sing!

Especially Toby. He's gotten into singing opera-style, with mouth open wide, head shaking (for the vibrato), and sometimes high-pitched. He'll even roll his tongue back. Haha.. It almost sounds like screaming. And Tytus just screams real loud. It's really funny when you see them "singing" at the same time. I tried getting it on our flip but Toby got camera-shy.

Lord, Forgive Me for Getting So Angry...

...at the library tonight.

It's been a while since I picked up a book, and I thought it would be nice to visit the library. Caven agreed to watch the boys after we finished bathing them and I headed out. With only 30 minutes before the library closed, I quickly picked out my books and went to check-out.

The lady behind the counter looked at my card, then my books, and said, "Sorry, you have a teacher's card. You can't use a teacher's card to check out adult books."

Me: "What?"
Lady: "You can only use the teacher's card to check out children's books. For other books you have to use your own personal card."
(What the..???)
M: "Nobody ever told me. I've never heard of this before."
L: "Oh, I'm sure they told you. You must've forgotten."
M: "Ummm...no, this is the first time I'm hearing this."
L: "There must be a mistake then because they must've told you."
(How is it that she knows that??)
M: "Well then, can you get me another card so I can check these books out today?"
L: "Sure, if you want to re-apply for a card, you just need to fill this out and pay $2.00"
M: "$2.00?? Why do I have to pay?"
L: "Because we're replacing an existing card."
(Mind you, I've had a "personal card" WAY before I applied for a teacher's card).

It was VERY frustrating. I noticed that there was a library card on my keychain. I gave it to her, she scanned it and said, "Who's Caven?" "That's my husband." "Ok then," she marks the card, "Now we know that this is your husband's card. You still need to get a card."

To make a long story short, I said I wanted to talk to her manager, who was conveniently standing on the check-out right next to her and heard everything, I'm sure. She was very nice about it. Explained how they're being more strict on reinforcing the rules, etc. Finally, she said she'd check my ID and see if I have another card on the system, which of course, I do--and it's still active. But she says that they charge $0.50 for the transaction. Thank God she didn't ask me to pay it because I don't think I would have.

She tried explaining how because they're at a new facility, they're trying to be more strict and reinforce rules. I said I understand. But really, it's just so dumb. Because we have a new library, they're charging left and right for services. If I wanted to put a book on hold, online or over the counter, they charge a fee of $0.50 per book. When did THAT start happening??

When I went home to vent to Caven and Jerome, they just laughed at me. Apparently, the same thing happened to Caven a while ago and he just never went back. I'm not mad because I don't want to pay $0.50 or $2.00. I'm upset because teacher's card or not, both have my name on it!! And it's not like I've never used my teacher's card to check out adult books! (By the way, I checked out Christopher Paolini's Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr--which are under TEENS!) I even told them that and said that they can look under the record--I've checked out many books using my teacher's card. Why do I have to carry around 2 cards anyway? Can't they look and see which books are children's books and which ones are not?

Anyways, so I told Caven that I was just trying to help save him some money for the construction of our house :)

Do you, or have you, had such problems with your library before?

Can't believe how small and chubby they were!!! This was January 2008, around 7 months.

Weird Sayings

I can't remember when they learned to say "Tytus." But both of them were able to say it. At one point, Tytus would point to Toby and say, "Tytus." And I would correct him and say, "No, that's not Tytus, that's Toby. You're Tytus." Then, Tytus started calling Toby "Bee." He never got the 1st syllable down. Or he would say "Didi." But Toby never called Tytus "Gege."

THEN, I noticed that Tytus started calling Toby "Hoby." The "t" sound suddenly changed to an "h" sound. And it didn't sound right! So yesterday, I tried to correct him.

Oh, and Caven's mom taught the boys to say "liang sue" (2 years old in mandarin) but they both would automatically say "err sue" (which is also 2 in mandarin but in a different context). How weird is that?
